Anatomy of a Flame
Have you ever just... watched a flame? Connected with it in presence? Become it and realize it is you?
It is so remarkable!!! The wax is a hydrocarbon -- a chain of carbon atoms with hydrogen branching off each side:
(Wax is MUCH longer than this -- between 20 and 50 carbon atoms in parrafin or soy waxes)
So what happens?
The carbon and hydrogen mix are torn apart by an input of heat (which is why you need heat to start a fire) and then they combine with the oxygen (O2) in the air to form carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).
The wax is literally becoming carbon dioxide and water
Fire.... makes water
The flame is the process of this happening. It is over 1,000 degrees!!!! Use a metal spoon to discover its features:
